David Langham currently serves as Deputy Chief Judge of Compensation Claims in Florida, a role he has held for over 19 years following five years as a presiding judge in Pensacola. Over 23 years on the bench, he has ruled on innumerable legal issues, entered thousands of orders, and presided over more than 750 bench trials. Judge Langham, a prolific speaker and writer, has delivered thousands of legal lectures and authored numerous articles, papers, and thousands of blog posts. His publications include Litigation ‘Strategery’ (2025), Unseen Influence: Unconscious Predisposition in Dispute Resolution (2025), Floridiana and the Workers’ Compensation Adjudicators (2024), Florida Workers’ Compensation: Its History, Evolution, and Function (2023), and The Mock Trial Performance (2022).
Judge Langham is deeply involved in the national conversation on workers’ compensation and legal ethics. He has actively participated in organizations such as the Workers’ Compensation Institute, the National Association of Workers’ Compensation Judiciary, the Workers’ Compensation Section of The Florida Bar, and several American Inns of Court. He has also participated in interdisciplinary work with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Medical Association, bridging the fields of medicine and law.
David litigated hundreds of cases during his earlier career, including workers’ compensation final hearings, jury trials, and mediations. He represented a diverse range of clients, including individuals, insurance carriers, self-insured employers, governmental agencies, and some of America’s largest corporations, in cases involving workers’ compensation, employment law, personal injury, medical malpractice, tort, and contract disputes.
In addition to his legal practice, he has taught courses in workers’ compensation, business law, constitutional law, evidence, and legal writing at the University of North Florida, Pensacola State College, and the University of West Florida. He has also guest lectured at Florida State University College of Law, Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, and the FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management.
